Interview with Financial Times

An interview with the Financial Times, and telling the investment story of Kazakhstan internationally.

Kazakhstan has been for many years one of the most interesting markets in the world for international investors that want to access top-tier, profitable and impactful natural resources projects.

We all know that.

However, when it comes to Asia, international conversations about commodities, about mining or oil and gas revolves mostly around China, Korea, or Southeast Asia.

I have said many times in this channel that Kazakhstan sits at the geopolitical and economic center of the world in terms of natural resources, with Russia to the north, China to the east, and Europe to the west.

In this context, and to tell exactly this story, I was highly honoured last week to participate in the FT Commodities Summit 2026, organized by the Financial Times in Singapore, a city that remains an essential, striking, and authentic meeting point between East and West.

And it was precisely there where I defended the thesis that, in terms of economic and geopolitical relevance - is gonna make of our country a major regional power within the next decade.

I must thank Tom Wilson, Senior Energy Correspondent at the Financial Times, for his invitation and for hosting a keynote interview with me.

He is a true expert in all things mining, and a great interviewer with deep knowledge of Central Asia.

One of the things I’m committed to do is to tell and continue telling - internationally - the story of Kazakhstan as a place to do meaningful and impactful business.

As always, I continue to invite investors from the rest of the world to come and observe with their own eyes what a serious, strong and reliable partner, Kazakhstan is.
