Welcoming spring
The beginning of the spring season in Kazakhstan marks the celebration of Körısu künı, also known as the Day of Greetings.
The celebration of Körısu künı ushers in the ten-day celebration of Nauryznama. This tradition precedes the celebration of Nauryz, which is very significant for us, our Kazakh New Year.
Over the years, the tradition of Nauryznama has come to symbolize a simple and significant tradition of visiting relatives, greeting people, showing respect to elders, and conveying well-wishes for the upcoming year.
These traditions highlight the importance of progress and the values that have always been part of the Nomadic peoples of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and the values of respect, hospitality, and friendship.
It is time for all of us to renew ties with those around us and start the new season with goodwill.
Happy Nauryznama to everyone celebrating!
