Saby Foundation at 24: A Real Philanthropy Story

Aselle Tasmagambetova and I founded the Saby Charitable Foundation in 2002, and we are proud of the work our colleagues, supporters, and stakeholders have helped us accomplish over the past 24 years.

I believe that, together, our community, our country, and philanthropic institutions have done a great deal to help those who need it most within our nation. The Saby Foundation is active in many areas of Kazakh society, including health, education, sports, and entrepreneurship.

In general, philanthropy has taught me patience. Ultimately, building a school, rolling out a medical program, and doing things that truly matter all take time. You plant your seeds, you let things grow, you let them work. You celebrate small victories, but they add up to opportunities down the line. I believe Saby has improved many lives.

Starting with our own. We are proud Kazakhs and fully committed to giving back.

Whenever someone asks us why we put so much effort into the Foundation (especially Aselle, who is the driving force behind most of its work), I feel the answer is simple.

Kazakhstan has given us everything. We believe we owe it to Kazakhstan, and that Saby is a strong, established philanthropic foundation with an exceptional team and the right structure to support many communities. We are ready to help—always, always, more.

Twenty-four years into it, we’ve barely scratched the surface.
